I was lucky enough to be in Montréal for over a week to attend DebConf 2017, a fantastic conference about the Debian operating system and free software in general. It was filled with the amazing spirit of a community-driven event, mostly powered by individual initiative. I believe this must have put me in a creative mood as when I then discovered a public piano on the pavement just next to where I was staying, it gave me an idea. And this one was not about software...

While I'm still pursuing the long quest of making some original live music to go with the silent movie "Nosferatu", I have also boiled down some of the themes I'm developing for it to fit with this 1933 cartoon "The Mad Doctor". The idea being to use it as some kind of introduction or ouverture. I had actually never recorded it before, but I thought it would be fun to do it on this public piano. So this is what I did, playing while watching the cartoon on my phone. The best part of it is how the random noises from the people around and the sirens seem to perfectly match the action. I did not edit anything, this is the raw recording as it happened!
